About Us
We live about 25 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah, in a countryside setting. We have the Wasatch Mountains practically at our back door. We have a nice size yard for our little Havanese to play outside in the good weather and have plenty of space for them to play indoors in the bad weather. However, the truth be known, our little babies are with us most of the time, either at our side or in our laps.
Back in 1991, after raising and breeding Labrador Retrievers for nearly 20 years, I told my vet that I wanted to find a little dog that didn’t shed but that had a mellow and loving temperament like my Labs. He told me that I wanted a Havanese. I said “a Hav-a-what?” He happened to be the vet for Diane Robinson who raised Yorkies and Havanese. He put me in contact with her and after visiting with one of her puppy buyers and her Havanese, I fell in love--hook, line and sinker--with the breed. Diane had a litter at the time and so we arranged to meet in Salt Lake City as she had moved to rural central Utah. She brought both parents and a litter of five 4-week-old Havanese puppies. We picked up each one and when little Cookie kissed me, I knew she was the one. So, in honor of Cookie, we have named ourselves “Beseme Havanese,” which means “kiss me” in Spanish. “Beseme” is pronounced bĕ´•sĕ•mē. Cookie turned 15 years old on April 4, 2006, and although she had lost her spunk, she will always be the turning point in my life with the canine species. In June of 2004, we were blessed to have Liveoak’s Southern Charm join our family (click on Kizzy to learn all about her) and in June of 2005, we were again blessed to have SandCastle’s Heart’s Desire become a member of our family (click on Karli for more info and pictures). With this little background about us, my focus now will be to share the Havanese breed with everyone I meet (pretty much what I have been doing since 1991) and have puppies so more people can experience this awesome breed. Beseme Havanese puppies (show or pet quality) are raised with lots of love. Their parents are health tested to ensure the highest quality puppies so that when you fall in love with your new puppy, you can be assured that they will be there to enrich your lives for a very, very long time.
